Body Found in Roadway Leads to Death Investigation
September 25, 2019 (MINNEAPOLIS) On Wednesday morning, officers on routine patrol came across the body of an adult female laying in the roadway in the area of 31st Avenue NE and Columbia Avenue. Officers got out to check on the woman and render aid however they found that she was deceased.
The scene was immediately secured and homicide investigators were called out. At this time the Minneapolis Police Department has initiated a death investigation as it is not certain how this woman died. This joint investigation is being handled in conjunction with the traffic investigative division.
Officers canvassed the area and checked neighboring buildings and structures for possible camera footage.
The Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab responded to the scene to search for and collect evidence.
The identity of the decedent, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the medical examiner in the coming days.
