Joshua Scheunemann is a Twin Cities native and grew up in the Como Park neighborhood in St. Paul, MN. He was raised in a working-class family; his mother works as a paraeducator and his father is an auto parts sales employee.

For much of his adult life, Joshua has been a professional community organizer for Working America, working as a field manager in St. Louis, Missouri during the 2016 election and as an organizer with Fight for 15 in Minneapolis.

He was also the organizing director for Chris Meyer’s election to the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board in 2017. Since then, he has opened his own consulting business and has worked with the Pathway to Pesticide Free Parks Campaign.

As a member of the city council, Joshua would focus on affordable housing, protecting workers’ rights, addressing climate change on the local level, and creating a more inclusive and just Minneapolis.
